Willa Cather

There are only two or three human stories, and they go on repeating themselves as fiercely as if they had never happened before; like the larks in this country, that have been singing the same five notes over for thousands of years. -- Willa Cather

Outsiders

“Until Gwen,“ “Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?” and “A Good Man is Hard to Find,” involve outsiders as either protagonists, antagonists, or both. In a well-organized 1-2 paragraph essay, define the true outsider in one of the three stories and decide whether being an outsider is beneficial or detrimental to the character.

Defend your choice by citing specific evidence from the story and connecting it to your CLAIM.

YOU DO NOT need to reference the other 2 stories.

This is a character analysis; you SHOULD NOT talk about your own experience as an outsider. Language should be formal (no 1st or 2nd person unless in quotations).

PLEASE LIMIT YOUR RESPONSE TO 280-320 words!
